NEED TO SURRENDER A PARROT?

At Feathers of Freedom Parrot Rescue, we understand that life circumstances can change. Whether due to personal, medical, or financial reasons, making the decision to surrender a parrot is never easy—and we’re here to support you through it with kindness and without judgment.

Our mission is to ensure every parrot in our care receives the love, attention, and specialised support they deserve. If you’re no longer able to provide for your parrot, surrendering them to a trusted rescue like ours can be the most compassionate choice for their wellbeing.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

When you contact us about surrendering a parrot, we will:

• Ask for details about your bird’s history, personality, diet, health, and daily routine.

• Discuss any behavioural concerns or special needs your parrot may have.

• Arrange a safe handover, either at your location or by you bringing the parrot to one of our foster homes.

• Provide a secure, caring environment for your bird—whether it’s temporary assessment or a long-term placement in a loving foster or forever home.

Every parrot that comes to us remains under the lifelong protection of Feathers of Freedom. Even when placed in a permanent foster home, they legally remain the property of the rescue. This ensures that we can always step in if their circumstances change again, and that their welfare is continually monitored throughout their life.

CONFIDENTIALITY  & COMPASSION:

Your privacy is respected at all times. We do not judge your reasons for surrendering—our only concern is the safety and happiness of your bird.
